How Many Driving Lessons Do You Need in Victoria?

Everyone asks the same question: how many driving lessons will I need? The honest answer is that it depends on you. Some learners need only a few lessons, and others need more.

What changes the number of lessons

  • Your previous experience behind the wheel
  • How often you take lessons (regular lessons build skills faster)
  • How much supervised practice you do between lessons
  • Your confidence in busy traffic, parking and roundabouts

Your log book and supervised hours

As well as lessons, you may need to consider the 120 hours of supervised driving required in your log book. Professional lessons and practice with a supervising driver work best together: your instructor teaches the skills, and practice makes them automatic.

How to get a realistic estimate

Our advice is simple, whichever driving school you choose. Have one or two lessons, then ask your instructor to give you an approximate estimate. They will see how you handle the car and tell you what to work on.

Choosing a package

If you expect to need several lessons, a package usually works out better value than single lessons. See our packages for 45, 60 and 90 minute lessons in your suburb, or call us on 0491 620 747 and we will help you choose.
